Contemporary Art Koons, Jeff Split-Rocker. 2012. Vase in bisque porcelain. 34 x 32 x 37 cm. Signed, dated, numbered and titled on the underside, and bearing the Bernardaud manufacturer’s mark. In its original lined box. One of 3,500 copies. – Produced by Bernardaud. Manufacture de Limoges. - Accompanied by the publisher’s booklet containing information on the creation of the artwork. - A scaled-down version of the monumental floral sculpture ‘Split-Rocker’, which Jeff Koons first presented in Avignon, France, in 2000. The work exhibited at the Palais des Papes consisted of around 50,000 flowers and plants and reached a height of eleven metres. Inspired by the heads of two rocking horses, he combined these to create the final hybrid form. Following its premiere in Avignon, “Split-Rocker” has been exhibited internationally on several occasions, including at the Palace of Versailles in 2008, in the grounds of the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen near Basel in 2012, and at the Rockefeller Centre in New York in 2014. Since 2013, one of the large-scale sculptures has been part of the collection of the Glenstone Private Museum in Potomac, Maryland. Split Rocker. 2012. Bisque porcelain vase.
