One of 40 copies. – Published by Edition Schellmann, Munich/New York on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Walk Off’ at the Haus der Kunst, Munich, 2007. – Robin Rhode works at the intersection of drawing, performance and photography. His wall drawings are created through performative acts in which the body becomes a drawing tool. This work transfers this practice to the casts of a pair of shoes, moulded from charcoal and chalk – the very materials Rhode uses to create his wall drawings. The enclosed blank handmade paper invites the viewer to activate the work through their own ‘action drawing’, thereby continuing the performative logic.
