Group posing inside a boat moored on the beach. 2019. Colour lithograph on heavy-weight vellum. 61 x 92 cm (70 x 100.5 cm). Signed, dated, numbered and bearing the artist’s stamp. – Overall very good condition. A magnificent, colour-rich print with margins, featuring the artist’s mark on two sides.
This print is part of the ‘Unframed’ series, an ongoing project by the French artist since 2010, based on images by famous or anonymous photographers as well as archive photographs, which JR reinterprets and removes from their original contexts. In 2013, JR focused on the identity of the La Belle de Mai neighbourhood in Marseille and invited residents to share their personal photo albums with him. The collage works transform individual traces of personal stories into visible testimonies to the history and collective memory of La Belle de Mai.
