Description
Conceptual Art
Kosuth, Joseph
Mondrian’s Work V. 2023. Digital UV pigment print with a glossy protective varnish on aluminium. 40 x 40 cm. Signed and numbered on the reverse on a label. - Overall, very good condition. A magnificent, richly coloured print of the full-format composition.
One of 15 copies. - Published by Edition Schellmann, Munich/New York. - For this edition, Joseph Kosuth superimposes Mondrian’s well-known grid composition with quotations from his own writings: Mondrian’s words on verticals, horizontals and the balance of opposites enter the pictorial space that they theoretically underpin. What appears in Mondrian’s work as a purely formal principle thus reveals itself to be a profoundly linguistic and philosophical system. The edition is a scaled-down print version of a series of 16 large-format neon glass works that Kosuth produced between 2005 and 2022.
