Portfolio of 24 works. Book of Hours. 2002. Woodcuts on thin Japanese handmade paper. Each sheet 42 x 30 cm. Each signed, dated, numbered and titled. - A few corners with minimal scuffing. Some light surface dusting. Overall, very good condition. Magnificent, expressive prints.
One of 12 copies. - Contents: Twelve hours and four night watches, each in 1–3 parts. Portfolio cover with hanging plan and titles. - Akos Novaky studied from 1971 to 1976 at the Academy of Visual Arts, Leipzig, specialising in book art under Irmgard Horlbeck-Kappler. After graduating, he worked in Leipzig as a graphic designer and book designer. The portfolio ‘Stundenbuch’ can be read as a condensed daily or hourly cycle, in which graphic symbols, architectural arrangements and symbolic forms come together to form a clear yet enigmatic visual structure.
