Conceptual Art
Eigenheer, Marianne
5 works. Untitled (History is an Angel or Peterchen’s Moon Journey). 1993. Each in acrylic, metallic paint and watercolour on canvas. Each 22 x 15 cm. Each signed and dated on the reverse. - Each work shows, in places, delicate red craquelure; in other places, very faint handling marks and a few light, barely visible spots. Overall, very good condition.
Private collection, Düsseldorf. - See the catalogue *Neun Ausstellungen und sechs Editionen*, Galerie Bugdahn und Kaimer, Düsseldorf 1994, p. 36. - Marianne Eigenheer’s pictorial symbols straddle the boundary between animal forms, mythical emblems and plant-like ornamentation. In this five-part series, her characteristic method of intuitive form-finding unfolds: archaic-looking silhouettes, accentuated by golden and dark red elements, evoke a visual world that defies any unambiguous classification. The work develops from a drawing-like basis, follows freely drawn lines and culminates in reduced, poetic statements about the unspeakable. This gives rise to peculiar hybrid beings that seem to hover between origin and transformation and, in their reduction, unfold an archaic power.
