Description
British Postwar
Tuttle, Richard
2 works. *Homesick as a Nail*. From: *Sequences*. 1998. Drypoint on Somerset handmade paper and colour silkscreen on acetate with hand-coloured additions. 33.5 x 43.5 cm and 12 x 39.5 cm (40 x 50 cm) respectively. One sheet signed and numbered. - Overall very good condition. Magnificent, colour-rich prints of the abstract compositions; one sheet with a clearly defined plate edge.
One of 60 copies each. – Published by Edition Schellmann, Munich/New York. – This two-part work combines two technically and conceptually independent prints, which can be displayed separately or overlapping. The juxtaposition of a linear architectural sketch and floating red forms embodies Tuttle’s post-minimalist sensibility of structure and dissolution, form and trace, which maintain a fragile balance. Tuttle manipulated the silkscreen process by directing targeted jets of water directly onto the screen to create the image form of the Mylar overlay.
