Judy and the Jaeger. 1969. Colour lithograph on vellum. 71 x 56.5 cm. Signed, dated and numbered on the reverse; bears the Collector’s Press printer’s blind stamp in the bottom left-hand corner. - Very slight browning along the edges on the reverse. Overall, very good condition. A magnificent, colour-rich print of the full-format image. Two sides with the artist’s margin.

From the mid-1960s onwards, Mel Ramos increasingly devoted himself to depicting individual female figures. In the so-called “Animal Paintings”, created between 1964 and 1971, the artist further heightened the provocative nature of his oeuvre by depicting nude female figures in combination with animals. Alongside his artistic practice, Ramos held a professorship in painting at California State University, Hayward, from 1966 to 1997.
