Untitled, 1958. Gouache on handmade paper. 38 x 52.5 cm (47.5 x 60 cm). Signed and dated. - Margins with very slight tears, minimal holes in the upper corners, and traces of former mounting on the reverse; shows signs of studio use and has a tinted appearance. Overall in good condition; the colours are fresh.
Hubert Berke studied under Paul Klee at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in the early 1930s. Klee’s influence is particularly evident in his works, which employ a wide variety of techniques, in the geometric forms, clear lines and bold colours.
