After studying at the Folkwang School in Essen in the late 1950s, Ulrich Brämer continued his training at the Werkkunstschule in Düsseldorf in the early 1960s. The Essen-based artist took part in numerous group exhibitions, including at the Galerie Ludorff in Düsseldorf, and also presented his work in a variety of solo exhibitions in the Ruhr region, including at the Ruhr University Bochum. Brämer gained particular renown for his extensive woodcut series.
