Untitled (Composition in Yellow, Orange and Dark Red). 1980s. Pastel on art paper. 70 x 50 cm. Stamped on the reverse by the estate. - Paper with slight colour stains and minimal scuffing at the edges, with traces of former mounting showing through from the reverse to the front. Overall in very good condition. The colours are vibrant.
A vibrantly coloured composition rendered in bold strokes, in which the artist creates a dense pictorial space. Gerda Henning studied in the early 1940s at the Hochschule für Kunsterziehung in Berlin under Willy Jaeckel, Bernhard Dörries and Otto Freytag, and later at the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Art under Willi Baumeister. From the 1960s onwards, she turned to abstraction.
