Untitled (Composition in Turquoise, Yellow and White). 1987. Pastel on art paper, washed. 15.2 x 25.5 cm (24.7 x 35 cm). Signed and dated; estate stamp on the reverse. Partially mounted on backing board and set within a passe-partout. - Slightly irregularly trimmed along the right-hand edge. Overall in very good condition. The colours are vibrant.
This work dates from a creative phase in which Henning increasingly abstracted her landscape painting into dense pictorial spaces and fields of colour. The German artist studied in the early 1940s at the Hochschule für Kunsterziehung in Berlin under Willy Jaeckel, Bernhard Dörries and Otto Freytag, and later at the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts under Willi Baumeister.
