Modern and Contemporary Art Fluxus Williams, Emmett Portraits of the artist as famous poets. 1984. Colour offset print collaged with spray paint on Velin card. 15 x 12 cm each (51 x 73 cm). Signed and dated. Framed behind glass. – Slightly rubbed edges and very minimal adhesive residue on both the front and back; edges slightly yellowed. Overall in very good condition. A magnificent, colour-rich print. The North American artist Emmett Williams ranks alongside John Cage, George Maciunas, Nam June Paik, Wolf Vostell, George Brecht and Joseph Beuys as one of the most active representatives of the Fluxus movement. Its leading figures sought to democratise art and combined action and poetry, painting and music to create a total work of art. This work was created during his fourth year in his adopted home of Berlin. Colour offset print mounted on Velin paper with spray varnish. Signed and dated. Framed behind glass. – Slightly worn edges; minimal traces of adhesive on both the front and back; edges slightly yellowed. Overall in very good condition.
