8 watercolours. Greetings from Ibiza. Each circa 1969–1982. Each is a watercolour or a watercolour and collage on painted canvas mounted on stiff vellum. Each approx. 10 x 10 cm (approx. 17 x 11 cm). Each signed, dated and some bearing the location ‘Ibiza’. – Paper partly slightly browned due to age, partly with small, scattered spots. Edges partly slightly bumped. Overall in very good condition.
Addressed on the reverse to Bettina Dubini, Zurich. – These watercolours were created as individually designed postcards which Gessner sent from his adopted home of Ibiza to Zurich. In a manner characteristic of the artist, they combine a concrete formal language with vibrant colour, thus oscillating between serially conceived, constructively ordered compositions and playful variations.
