Modern and Contemporary Art Italian Modernism Remotti, Remo Untitled. 1970. Aluminium relief with tubes and nails. 45.2 x 45.5 cm. Signed, dated and inscribed with the place of origin on the reverse. The aluminium frame has two areas of loss; the reverse shows slight staining, areas of glue and residues from previous mounting. – Overall, very good condition. Provenance: From the collection of Peter Sedgley. – This aluminium assemblage is characteristic of Remotti’s work from the 1970s. During this period, the Roman artist created a large number of metal reliefs made from nails and tube caps, the seams of which suggest an association with scars. Remotti’s oeuvre can be situated at the intersection of Neo-Dadaism and Constructivism. Provenance: From the collection of Peter Sedgley. - Aluminium relief featuring tubes and nails. Signed, dated and with place of origin on the reverse. The aluminium frame has two missing pieces, light staining on the reverse, areas where it has been partially glued, and residue from the original mounting. - Overall, very good condition. - This aluminium assemblage is characteristic of Remotti’s work from the 1970s.
