Modern and Contemporary Art Turn of the Century Whistler (after), James Abbott Mac Neill La Robe Rouge (The Red Dress). 1895. Lithograph on vellum. 18.5 x 15.3 cm (29.5 x 20.7 cm). Bearing the blind stamp from ‘The Studio’. – Slightly stained along the upper outer edge; the margins show minimal creasing. Excellent chalky print. Levy 96. – Way 68. – A series of late lithographs depicts Whistler’s wife Beatrice indoors or in the garden of their home on Rue du Bac in Paris, where the Whistlers had moved in 1892.
