Description
Modern and Contemporary Art Classical Modernism Kollwitz, Käthe ‘Aufruhr’. Before 1899. Line etching, burin, aquatint, brush etching, emery and roulette in brown on light-weight Velin card. 29.3 x 31.6 cm (35.6 x 45 cm). With a blind stamp by Beckes, Munich. – Slightly irregular yellowing within the original passe-partout cut-out; traces of the original mounting on the reverse. Mounting in the upper corners; paper very slightly wavy in the centre due to the printing process; a small, pale spot at the bottom left; overall in very good condition. An excellent, crisp and wonderfully nuanced print with a slightly visible plate edge, with wide margins on the right and left. Knesebeck 46 IX b. – Printed between 1963/65 and 1972, with plate tone, but without the slightly visible lettering on the right mentioned by Knesebeck. – With von der Beckes’ Munich blind stamp in the bottom left-hand corner. Line etching, drypoint, aquatint, brush etching, emery and roulette in brown on slightly wove paper. With blindstamp by von der Becke, Munich. - Slightly irregular yellowing in the former mat area; on the reverse, traces of previous mounting in the upper corners; the paper is slightly buckled in the centre due to the technique; an isolated, faint stain in the lower left; all in all, very good. Superb, burr-like and wonderfully nuanced impression with a slightly drawn plate mark, with wide margins on the right and left. - Edition from between 1963/65 and 1972, with plate tone, without the slightly visible writing on the right as mentioned by Knesebeck.
