La Gerbe – Retrospective Exhibition 1966. Poster. Colour lithograph on vellum. 49 x 63 cm (63 x 64 cm). On the reverse, in the upper margin, fixed to backing with dots and mounted beneath a passe-partout. – The corners are slightly bumped; there are a few light (finger) smudges in places. Overall in good condition. A magnificent, vibrantly coloured print of the image with margins.
An ‘avant la lettre’ version without the typography or the black elements of the print. - Poster produced for the American retrospective of Matisse’s work in 1966 at the UCLA Art Gallery, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the UCLA Art Council, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
