Untitled. 1995. Mixed media on vellum. 54 x 40 cm. Signed and dated. Marked ‘W76 83e’ on the reverse. Partially mounted on a backing board and set in a passe-partout. – Edges slightly soiled; somewhat irregular and partly wavy due to the technique. Overall in very good condition.
Included: etching, 1989, one of 18 copies. – In this work, Kuckei develops a dense layering of impasto and glazed paint applications, interspersed with fragments of lines and empty spaces. Based on his artistic approach of treating colour and structure not as a means to an end, but as autonomous forces in their own right, he creates an atmospheric structure whose layers, like sediments of memories, coalesce into an open visual field.
