Signed, dated, titled, numbered and otherwise marked. – Edges browned, with light marks in the lower section, faint colour bleed on the reverse, paper minimally browned. Overall in good condition. An excellent, high-contrast print with a full margin, featuring a deckle edge on two sides. One of 20 copies outside the numbered edition. – Created in the context of a solidarity exhibition at the Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf against martial law in the People’s Republic of Poland and in support of the Solidarnosc trade union; the proceeds went to Polish artists. Uecker transposes his fundamental sculptural motif of the nailed wedge into the medium of printmaking, transforming the sheet into a political statement. Offset lithograph on Arches (with watermark).
