Abdallah BENANTEUR (Mostaganem 1931- Ivry-sur-Seine 2017) [La Pêche aux évidences] In-folio (31 x 22 cm) in sheets (21), in hardback cover, folder and slipcase (worn). Portfolio of 114 unsigned colour prints (etchings and monotypes) by A. Benanteur. Title on back cover in felt-tip pen "Your essais gravures" and in pencil "Youri essay / La pêche aux évidences". Back cover painted by the artist ("Youri / Youri essays"). A unique copy. This volume constitutes the preparatory model for the work La Pêche aux évidences, of which the definitive edition, printed at 16 copies on vellum paper, was to include 22 etchings by Benanteur. The present copy, considerably richer, brings together 114 prints and bears witness to the artist's creative process in all its amplitude. It was produced in collaboration with Youri - the pseudonym of Youri Komerovsky (Paris, 1927), television director, scriptwriter and playwright - whose words sum up Benanteur's world admirably: "Magnificently alone, apart from groups and fashions, he invents his own space, creates his own time".
