Mohammed KHADDA (Algeria 1930 -1991) 15th International Fair of Algiers. [Algiers, 1978]. Colour offset poster. 78 × 58 cm *** Color offset poster (30¾ × 22⅞ in.) Trained as a printer, Khadda maintained a special relationship with typography and the printing arts throughout his life. The four posters presented here are a little-known but revealing facet of his work, in which he deploys the same plastic vocabulary as on his canvases - stylised calligraphy, sign structure, strong contrasts - in the service of the major cultural and political events of post-independence Algeria. A field of experimentation in which the artist doubles up as a committed player in his time.
