Painter and printmaker Faïza Djeffal-Tahraoui is one of the leading female figures on the contemporary Algerian art scene. Her work draws on the Berber symbolic repertoire and the decorative traditions of the Maghreb, reinterpreting age-old motifs in a personal pictorial language in the tradition of the Aouchem movement. She has been exhibiting in Algeria and abroad since 1987.
