A Congolese painter born in Kinshasa under the name Jean-Marie Mosengwo Odia, Moke Fils is the eldest son of the painter Moke (1950-2001), a major figure in popular Congolese painting. Trained in the family studio, he continued this heritage without academic training, adopting a figurative narrative style characteristic of the Kinshasa art scene.
His work, close to caricature, vividly depicts everyday life in Kinshasa: chaotic traffic, police checks, street scenes and urban figures. Using bright, contrasting colours, he captures the energy and tension of urban life.
He has exhibited in Kinshasa and abroad, notably in Central Africa, France and Belgium.
