Provenance : Private collection Senegal This lot is sold as a temporary import. This lot will be sold under the general VAT regime (on the total price at the rate of 5.5%). Trained at the École nationale des Beaux-Arts in Dakar (1998-2001), Kassou Seydou questions the academic teaching he received during residencies. For him, "everything is writing": his work is criss-crossed with spiral lines, filigree and circular motifs that convey a critical and humanist vision of the world. He claims an unfinished aesthetic, leaving the stages of the creative process visible. Winner of the Wapi competition (British Council, 2009), he has exhibited in Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, France and Morocco, notably at the Galerie Cécile Fakhoury and the Dakar Biennial. He lives and works in Keur Massar, near Dakar.
