Louis XV 1715–1774 Gold medal struck to mark the marriage of the Dauphin Louis (XVI) and the Dauphine Marie-Antoinette, by Lorthior, 1770, Paris, AU 31.05 g. 34.6 mm Obverse: LUDOVICUS XV REX CHRISTIANISSIMUS. The King’s aged head, crowned with a laurel wreath, facing right; below, the signature LORTHIOR. F. Reverse: SACRUM ÆTERNÆ CONCORDIÆ PIGNUS. The bride and groom holding hands above an altar. Behind them, France, with the globe bearing three lilies, and Austria, with a double-headed eagle, entwined; signature LORTHIOR. F. In the exergue: M. A. AUSTR. L. DELPH. NUPT. / XVI MAII MDCC LXX.
