100 Francs gold Vernon competition coin, AU 6.55 g. 900‰, raised edge, mint strike. Ref: Maz 2542, GEM 284. Grading: PCGS SPECIMEN 62. Condition: Superb specimen. Only 9 specimens struck. Extremely rare. The word ‘ESSAI’ on the reverse to the right, the coat of arms on the scroll. A superb gold trial coin, characterised by the remarkable oak motif on the reverse which separates the date—a design rarely seen on French coins.
