Description
[HEINE (Johann August)]. A Treatise on Buildings Suitable for Housing Animals Necessary to the Rural Economy; containing rules on the proportions, layouts and locations appropriate for stables, cowsheds, sheepfolds, henhouses [sic], apiaries, etc. With 50 plates. Leipzig, Voss and Company, 1802. Folio, XII-72 pp. of text, with 50 plates engraved by Sprinck, Frosh, Küllmann, Böttger, Natling, Seiffert, Capieux, with serpentine bands, including one on the frontispiece, fawn half-basane with corners, smooth decorated spine, green title page (contemporary binding). Corners damaged. A good copy. The only French edition of this fine treatise on rural economy and architecture, which was not translated into German until 1804 (Die Stallungen der vorzüglichsten Haus- und Nutzthiere). The plates are arranged as follows: View of a country house (3), Stable (6), Cowshed (6), Sheepfold (10), Pigsty (4), Dovecote, henhouse and housing for ducks and geese (4), Beehive (9), Silkworm rearing house (4), Kennels (4).
