Second edition. Expanded and corrected by Mr Bidet (...). And revised by Mr Du Hamel du Monceau (...). With illustrations. Paris, Savoye, 1759.
2 vols. in-12, xxiv pp., 534 pp., [1] f.; [5] ff., 304 pp., with 15 (out of 16) folding plates, including one table and 14 engraved by Choffard; plate 5 of the second volume is missing; marbled fawn calfskin, smooth, decorated spines, red title labels, marbled edges (contemporary binding). Pen-and-ink drawings on the upper cover of vol. I.
The most complete edition, produced in accordance with the corrections by Duhamel du Monceau, and constituting a truly comprehensive treatise on viticulture. The first edition was published in 1752 and consisted of only a short volume of around a hundred pages. Born and died in Reims, Nicolas Bidet (1709–1782) was an agronomist and an officer of the King’s household, as well as sommelier to Queen Marie-Antoinette.
