Description
LARMAT (Louis). Atlas of Wine-Producing France. The Wines of Champagne. Taittinger, formerly Maison Couvert – Founded in 1818, Reims. Volume IV. Paris, Louis Larmat, 1944.
Folio format comprising (4) folios, VII, 30 pp.; loose-leaf, with an illustrated cover.
A booklet devoted to the wines of Champagne, compiled and published by Louis Larmat in Paris in 1944, under the official patronage of the City of Reims, the City of Épernay, the Comité Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne (C.I.V.C.), and the Syndicat du Commerce des Vins de Champagne.
It is illustrated with 7 colour fold-out maps (separate from the text), a colour fold-out chart (separate from the text), a colour advertising illustration (separate from the text) for the House of Taittinger, and 15 black-and-white photogravures within the text. The maps include one general map and six maps of the sub-regions. The fold-out chart provides statistics compiled since 1844 on shipments of bottled Champagne, the quantities in hectolitres of Champagne harvested in the Marne department, and the quality of the wine.
A special edition produced for Maison Taittinger, featuring the company’s name and logo on the cover, a seven-page insert in four languages, and a colour advertising illustration.
A fine copy. Very slight foxing on the back cover.
