First edition, illustrated with 2 frontispieces (coats of arms of Languedoc, Carcassonne, Narbonne, Limoux and Castelnaudary), a general colour map of the Aude, 3 large views (Carcassonne, Castelnaudary and Narbonne), six maps and a plan (including the map of the new route of the Deux Mers Canal beneath the walls of Carcassonne, the plan and elevation of the Marengo Bridge, the plan and elevation of the Fresquel Aqueduct, the map and plan of the Narbonne water intake, the synoptic table of the Canal du Midi, etc.). The Canal du Midi, built over a period of 14 years by the engineer Paul Riquet, who financed a large part of it out of his own pocket, was admired throughout Europe.
