PICHON. New road map of the city and suburbs of Paris, showing its main buildings and new toll gates. Revised and expanded in Year 9. Paris, Esnault, Year 10 [1802]. 1 x 1.44 m. A fine wall map of Paris, drawn up by the engineer and geographer Pichon. The title cartouche, held by angels, is adorned with a nymph of the Seine and an allegory of Paris featuring the symbols of the arts and sciences. The map is framed by a floral border with fleurs-de-lis at the corners. Arranged all around are 27 views of Parisian squares and monuments, and one view of the Palace of Versailles. A fine copy with outlines watercoloured at the time.
