Description
[RAILWAY]. Railway from Amiens to Boulogne. General plan. Drawn up by the company’s chief engineer. Engraved by Schwaerzlé. Paris, Imprimerie Lemercier, undated (1845).
Folio, 3 very large folded engraved plans, modest half-cloth binding with ribbons, blank spine (contemporary binding). Upper joint completely split.
Established in 1845, the Amiens to Boulogne Railway Company was granted the concession for the line linking Amiens to Boulogne-sur-Mer. The various sections were opened between 1846 and 1848, before the company was taken over in 1852 by James de Rothschild’s Compagnie des chemins de fer du Nord, which would later become a major component of the SNCF.
