A very interesting album documenting the occupation of Saharan settlements south of Oran by a French column commanded by Colonel Bertrand, the true objective of which was to penetrate southern Morocco. A rare photographic album devoted to the Igli Column (1900–1902), an expedition led by the Foreign Legion and the tirailleurs in southern Oran. It documents the capture of the ksar of Igli, the column’s stages of advance to the Moroccan border, the daily life of the soldiers, the Saharan landscapes and the local populations, supplemented by several original drawings made in the field.
