South America. General San Martín. Buenos Aires, Imp. del Comercio del Plata, 1863. Quarto, green half-morocco, decorated ribbed spine (late 19th-century binding). First edition, illustrated with an original photograph depicting the general’s statue, and a colour plate (the royal standard carried by Francisco Pizarro during the conquest of Peru), and enhanced with a mezzotint portrait by Edmond Castan, based on the only known photograph of the general. A fine copy with generous margins.
