André Montbrun, up to the capture of the town. All drawn from the memoirs of J.-B. Rostagne, Secretary of State and of Finance to His Royal Highness and an eyewitness to the events described herein, and from several other highly reliable and fascinating accounts. 2 parts in one sturdy volume, in-12, [6] ff. (engraved title-frontispiece, title page, dedication to Cornelijs Tromp, notice to the reader), 60 pp., [453] pp. incorrectly paginated as 153, one blank folio, 320 pp., grained fawn calfskin, spine with decorated faux-ribbing, title page, double gilt fillet framing on the covers, edges speckled with red (contemporary binding). Minor restoration to the engraved title page. Discreet repairs to the cap bands.
Rare first edition (it is the second part that bears the date 1670).
