DUMONT D’URVILLE (Jules-Sébastien-César). Voyage of the corvette *L’Astrolabe*, undertaken by order of the King during the years 1826, 1827, 1828 and 1829. Account of the voyage. Paris, J. Tastu, 1830–1833. 5 volumes, large 8vo, red half-shagreen with corner pieces, smooth spines with decorative lettering, untrimmed (contemporary binding). Text-only account of Dumont d’Urville’s voyage, the most significant French expedition commissioned by the government between the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. It is illustrated with a portrait, 8 engraved plates (separate from the text), and numerous vignettes within the text. A good copy. Corners worn, a few foxing spots and slight marginal water-stains on several leaves.
