Folio, paperback, with a contemporary blue marbled paper cover. A collection of treatises by François-Michel de Rozière (1775–1842), a mining engineer and member of the Commission of Sciences and Arts during Bonaparte’s Egyptian expedition, bringing together several of his major contributions to the *Description de l’Égypte*. It includes: - On Comparative Geography and the Former State of the Red Sea Coast, Considered in Relation to Egyptian Trade in Different Ages. Offprint of 42 pp. - ‘Description of Gebel Selseleh, and of the quarries which supplied the materials for the principal buildings of the Thebaid’. Extract from the *Description of Egypt*, pp. 13–26. - Treatise on the murrhin vases formerly brought to Egypt, and on those manufactured there. Offprint of 12 pp. - Treatise on the art of hatching chicks in Egypt using ovens. Offprint of 8 pp. A fine copy with an autograph dedication by the author: “Presented to Mr Gillet Laumont, Associate Member of the Institut de France and Councillor for Mines, from the Author”. François-Pierre-Nicolas Gillet de Laumont (1747–1834) was a French mineralogist and geologist, an associate member of the Institut de France, and General Councillor for Mines. A leading figure in mining sciences of his time, Gillet de Laumont was one of the architects behind the organisation of the General Council of Mines during the Empire and the Restoration. Good condition inside. Spine of the cover damaged.
