Small folio, green half-shagreen, plain spine with decoration (contemporary binding). First edition, illustrated with a title vignette and 40 lithographic plates on China paper depicting Mauritius. These include views of Port Louis, the Protestant church in Port Louis, Port Louis as seen from Petite Montagne, the La Grande Rivière aqueduct, the village of La Grande Rivière, and the plain of the Wilhelm district. A rare volume, printed in a run of 122 copies. The binding is very worn, and the text pages are heavily browned.
