History of the Abbey of Monte Cassino […] Naples, Filippo Cirelli, 1842–1843. 3 volumes in one sturdy in-8 volume, with vignettes and initials in the text, and 23 plates, with serpentine bands, in havana half-calf, smooth decorated spine, speckled edges (contemporary binding). Spine slightly rubbed, upper joint cracked, foxing. First edition of one of the earliest books by Don Luigi Tosti (1811–1897), a monk of Monte Cassino, and naturally dedicated to the prestigious abbey where he took his vows.
