Description
DILLON (Arthur). Reasons for the motion tabled in the National Assembly on 4 March 1791. Paris, Imprimerie Nationale, 1791.
In-8, 3 pp.; green marbled paper board, burgundy morocco title label bearing the title in full (modern binding).
As a deputy representing the settlers of Martinique, the author denies having intended to criticise the Society of Friends of the Blacks in a motion tabled on the same day in the Assembly. He states that he respects and holds in high regard most of its members, whilst deploring their views on the colonies, which he attributes to their ignorance of the local conditions. A fine copy.
