Ravinet (Laurette-Aimée Mozard, widow). *La Fièvre sympathique*: *Confabulations*. A sequel to *Mémoires d’une créole du Port-au-Prince*. Paris: Félix Malteste, 1848. 6 instalments and 1 supplement bound in 1 in-8 volume, in violet half-calf with corner pieces, plain spine with decoration (contemporary binding). First edition, printed in a run of one hundred copies, published in six instalments and a supplement to the fifth, four years after the first part of the memoirs of Laurette-Aimée Ravinet, widow of Mozard (1844). The daughter of Charles Mozard (1755–1810), editor of the *Gazette américaine* and the King’s printer in Port-au-Prince, Laurette Aimée, born in Saint-Domingue in 1788, married Mr Ravinet as his second wife. She was the author of works not intended for commercial sale, written for her friends and close acquaintances, of which only a few copies were printed, such as *Mémoires d’une créole de Port-au-Prince* (Paris, Malteste, 1844) and its sequel *La Fièvre sympathique*. *Confabulations* (Paris, Malteste, 1848) was published in instalments, the first of which contained three poems, along with numerous notes and an introduction in the form of a dialogue. The sixth instalment is entitled *Exercise on the Lexicon. The Sibyl and the Traveller, or the Modern Rhapsodist*. A copy lacking the seventh and final instalment, published the following year (1849) under the title *La Fièvre sympathique. Le Farniente*. Romantic Excerpts.
