[LOSTANGES (Armand-Louis-Charles-Rose de)]. Account of the engagement between the French frigate *La Surveillante* and the British frigate *Le Québec*. Lorient, Éd. Corfmat, 1858. In-8, 60 pp.; brown grained paper board, green title label, printed pink cover (modern binding). New edition, illustrated with a fold-out lithographic plate depicting the M. Du Couëdic mausoleum. This work contains important details on one of the most famous naval battles to take place during the American War of Independence between the French and the British, on 6 October 1779 off the coast of the island of Ouessant. The battle pitted the French frigate *La Surveillante*, commanded by Captain du Couëdic de Kergoaler, against the British frigate *The Québec*, under the command of Captain Farmer. It lasted four and a half hours, at the end of which both ships were dismasted and out of action. From page 43 onwards, there are notes and documents relating to Mr Du Couëdic. A fine copy.
