VERNE (Jules). From the Earth to the Moon. Around the Moon. Paris, Hetzel, undated [1883–1890]. A hardback binding featuring the ‘Ptolemaic armillary sphere’ or ‘solar system’ design, one of the bindings widely regarded as the finest and most successful in the Extraordinary Voyages series. Only two works are bound in this beautiful style: *Hector Servadac* and *From the Earth to the Moon – Around the Moon*, the two novels set in space. A copy of the second type, bound by Engel (back cover f). The cardboard binding is worn, the percaline is creased in places, the gutter is uneven, and there are stains and foxing on the inside.
