Description
[Games]. Aviators’ Lotto. [1910]. Twenty cards, size 17.8 x 10.9 cm, rounded corners, pink spines and edges, image (10.5 x 7.5 cm) glued to the front, framed on three sides by a strip of fifteen squares, each bearing a number. Set of cards from a lotto game dedicated to the early days of aviation. Each image, printed using chromotypography, shows an aeroplane (usually a biplane) in action; at the bottom is a medallion featuring the head of the pilot, and a caption gives their name and the location of the event. All the events depicted took place in 1910, the majority during the Second Great Champagne Aviation Week, held in Reims from 3 to 10 July 1910.
