Playing Cards – Parisian Cards. French Historical Costumes. Paris, Gibert, 1852. A deck of 52 cards (size 5.7 x 8.4 cm), square corners, plain glossy blue backs, full-length portraits. Complete deck of cards. The kings and queens are named: Countess of Brissac and Diane de Poitiers (spades), Bussy d’Amboise and Dame de Monsoreau (hearts), Cinq-Mars and Marie Delorme (diamonds), Chevalier d’Éon and the Countess of Rochefort (clubs). It all has the distinct flavour of Alexandre Dumas! In very fine condition.
