Large 8vo (23.5 x 16.5 cm) comprising 1 frontispiece, 1 title page, 232 pp., 1 half-sheet of table of contents, 1 blank half-sheet, 4 half-sheets of catalogue, brown percaline cardboard binding, decorated spine, blind-stamped borders on the covers, gilt edges (contemporary binding). A volume from the Bibliothèque d’éducation et de récréation. Illustrations by Georges Roux. This copy is accompanied by an ORIGINAL DRAWING created by Georges Roux (1855–1929) to illustrate this work. It appears as an insert in Chapter XI under the title ‘Young Wesley at the spinning wheel’. Size 21.4 x 14.8 cm, wash on card enhanced with white gouache, signed G. Roux. Hetzel Editions stamp with number and reference in pencil. Small tear at the margin which does not affect the drawing.
