Small 8vo, [16]-234-[4] pp. First edition, dedicated to Pierre de Carcavy, curator of the King’s library and medal collection. It is illustrated with 9 copper engravings, including 4 as inserts, and numerous woodcut inscriptions and figures within the text, most of which relate to numismatics and epigraphy.
At the end of the volume is an interesting list of the principal antiquarians and collectors of curiosities in Europe.
Bound together with the following work, by the same author and from the same publisher: *Discourse on an Ancient and Curious Coin from the Collection of Jacob Spon, Doctor of Medicine and Associate Professor at the College of Lyon*. 1674. Large fold-out engraving as a frontispiece (depicting the large bronze vase in question), 32 pp.
