Description
DU BOIS-AYMÉ (Jean-Marie-Joseph-Aimé de Bouès, known as). An examination of certain questions of political economy, and in particular of Mr Ferrier’s work entitled *Du Gouvernement considéré dans ses rapports avec le commerce*. Paris, Pélicier, 1823.

First edition of this original contribution to the early days of econometrics and the application of mathematics to the field of commerce. A former resident of Egypt, Du Boisaymé (1779–1846) spent almost his entire career in the customs service. (Kress C 1052.)
Bound together with: SAY (Louis): Considerations on Industry and Legislation, with regard to their influence on the wealth of States, and a critical examination of the principal works that have appeared on political economy. Paris, J.-P. Aillaud, 1822, [8]-412-[2] pp.
Single edition, rare.
The industrialist Louis-Auguste Say (1774–1840) was the brother of Jean-Baptiste, and his name is associated with the resumption of the sugar trade from the West Indies following the end of the Continental Blockade and with the sugar company that made his fortune and that of his family; but he also dabbled in economic theory, as evidenced by this work, written without his brother’s collaboration.
