MORELLET (André). Prospectus for a new commercial dictionary. In five folio volumes offered by subscription. Paris, Frères Estienne, 1769. 8vo, viij pp., 382 pp., [1] f., 34 pp., fawn half-basane, decorated ribbed spine, speckled vellum corners, edges speckled with red (contemporary binding). Discreet restoration to the head and foot caps. A rare prospectus announcing the comprehensive commercial dictionary conceived by Abbé Morellet to replace those of Savary des Brûlons and his principal predecessors. Interrupted by the Revolution, this project only saw the light of day in a revised form in Peuchet’s *Dictionnaire universel de la géographie commerçante*. The work is supplemented by a valuable catalogue of a library of political economy. (INED 3311.) A fine copy. First edition.
